What is your role with Coogee? I am the Terminal Supervisor at Port Hedland. I have been doing this role for the past 2 years, learning lots about how a chemical terminal works and operates.
What do you enjoy about your job? The learning and the responsibilities of being a supervisor of a terminal. Learning from the Terminal Manager the processes and the knowledge required to look after the terminal the correct way.
What is it like working for Coogee? Working for Coogee has been fun, challenging and brilliant. I came from the UK in 2008 to Australia and never thought I would be getting back into a job that was so rewarding on so many levels. I have worked for Coogee for almost 13 years and have worked for the IT Department, Maintenance, Stores and now Terminals. I have learned so much about Coogee and the fact that it has a great family-based feel to every day working environments. Family, Australia and Coogee are the best 3 things that have happened to me since moving from the UK.
What is your role with Coogee?
My role is responsible for a team of 15 and looks after the day to day production planning of the Chlor Alkali
plant.
What do you enjoy about your job?
No day is ever the same in this role, where people are involved there is always something interesting happening. I enjoy the people interaction the most, building a rapport with my team and others. The most rewarding part is seeing the team develop.
What is it like working for Coogee?
It’s great to work for a company that is investing in the site’s future. We have seen a lot of changes at site and negotiated them well, which is a massive credit to the team we have. We operate a world class facility and we are very proud of it. I’ve had a variety of different positions with Coogee since 2012, including laboratory technician, plant 4 training & development officer and training lead. Each of these have been very different roles and each have been both challenging and rewarding. Coogee give their employees opportunities to develop themselves.
What is your role with Coogee?
My role within the company is as the mechanical supervisor. This entails planning jobs for the mechanical fitters, ensuring stock and spares are available for normal day operation and site shuts as well as organizing maintenance of our fleet of ISO rail tankers. One of my main responsibilities is looking after the heart of the plant, the Chlor Alkali plant cell stack, which is the unit that makes the Chlorine and
Hydrogen gas.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love the diversity of my role, everyday there is something different, the plant operates 24/7 so there is always something new that needs maintaining or troubleshooting. It is also interesting interacting with all the other departments from operations, transport, dispatch, main office and the various contractors.
What is it like working for Coogee?
It’s the people that make the company great from top to bottom, but being a bit bias the Maintenance team which includes engineers, fitters and electricians work really well together which forms a great working atmosphere. It is very rewarding to work in a unique and meaningful industry (Chlor Alkali) where there are only a handful of these plants in Australia and knowing our products are used to make drinking water safe.
Coogee keeps pace with the latest technology which is another great positive. Looking back over my 30 years with Coogee (starting in 1990) the advancement in cell technology are tremendous which has greatly improved safety over the years.
What is your role with Coogee?
I am part of a skilled transport department operating heavy road tanker vehicles from rigids to road trains. My role involves the safe and efficient delivery of Coogee’s products to our clientele.
What do you enjoy about your job.?
My job is stress free and I feel relaxed being out on the road by myself, it feels like I am my own boss.
What is it like working for Coogee?
Not only am I an employee at Coogee I feel like I’m an asset to the Coogee team and very much a part of the Coogee family. I have been with Coogee for just over 12 months, however, I see myself definitely being a long term employee.
What is your role with Coogee?
My Role at Coogee is the apprentice carpenter with the site services department.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I have worked at Coogee for just over 2 years. The things I enjoy most about my role is definitely the variety of work that we do and the great people who make up the various teams and departments.
What is it like working for Coogee?
Working for Coogee is definitely a treat, employees are well looked after and we are consistently offered new opportunities to build on our skill set through additional training.
