Dr Grant Lukey Dr Grant Lukey - Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director

  • B.E (Hons), Grad Dip (Law), PhD, MAICD

Grant joined Coogee Chemicals in 2006 in a commercial and operational role having primary responsibility for the methanol plant in Victoria. Previously Grant was General Manager of a company connected with Fletcher Building Limited that licensed green concrete technology. He was appointed CEO of Coogee Chemicals in July 2015. 

His background is in Chemical Engineering and he holds a PhD in minerals processing and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University (AMP 188). Currently a board member on the Kwinana Industries Council, and from 2015-2018 Grant also held the position of director on the board of Chemistry Australia. 

Des Halsted Des Halsted - Chief Financial Officer & Finance Director

  • B. Compt, FIPA, FFA, MAICD

Des was appointed Chief Financial Officer in November 2015 and joined the board in August 2016 as Finance Director and Company Secretary. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree, a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting, and is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants and the Institute of Company Directors.

Prior to his appointment as CFO, Des spent seven years as the Commercial Manager of the Chlor Alkali business. He joined Coogee in July 2004 as the Corporate Accountant for the Chlor Alkali business. Prior to 2004 he was involved in financial management roles primarily in the manufacturing and wholesale sectors.                         

Rick Benjamin Rick Benjamin - Executive Manager, Operations & Director

Rick joined Coogee in 2016 as Executive Manager, Operations responsible for SH&E, WA Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance and Asset Integrity and Major Project business functions.

Rick has over 35 years of diverse experience in the Chemical, Metallurgical and Mining Industries and Engineering consultancy which included over 15 years in positions of senior leadership.

He is also a Director of the following companies; Australian Gold Reagents (a joint venture between Coogee Chemicals and CSBP) and Pacific Iron Products (a joint venture between Coogee Chemicals and Venator).

Evan Hunter Evan Hunter - Executive Manager Chlor Alkali


Evan joined Coogee in 2007 as Kemerton Plant Manager when Coogee took over sole ownership of the West Australian Chlor Alkali plants.

A chemist by profession, Evan has extensive technical and management experience in the chemical industry, including international exposure in the UK. He has a keen interest in operational excellence and process safety. Evan was part of the original commissioning teams at each of the three Chlor Alkali plants located at Kemerton, Kwinana and Lytton. He managed the Kemerton facility for 4 years, before taking on the responsibility for the Chlor Alkali group in 2011.

Dr Trevor Taylor Dr Trevor Taylor - Business Development Manager

Trevor has 25 years' experience in the chemical industry covering roles in Production Management, Business Development/Marketing, R&D and Contracting covering a range of industries, including Mining, Photographic, Pharmaceutical, Fine Chemicals and the Steel Industry.

His experience with Coogee Chemicals gives him a strong base to manage the relationship between our internal operations and our customers need.

Craig Bromfield Craig Bromfield - Executive Manager - WA, Terminals & Transport

  • B. Eng (Chem) B. Comm

Craig joined Coogee Chemicals at the end of 2006 as Business Development Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce.

Craig has 25 years of experience in the chemical industry which has included roles in process engineering, marketing and sales, business development and general management. He has either worked in, or been engaged in, a number of market sectors such as food & beverage, pharmaceutical & cosmetic, printing & packaging, and agrochemicals.

Craig is responsible for Terminals and Transport operations at Kwinana.

He is also a Director of Australian Gold Reagents, a joint venture between Coogee Chemicals and CSBP, manufacturing sodium cyanide.

Steve Kempin Steve Kempin - Human Resources Manager

  • B. Arts, Dip. Ed., Gr. Dip. HRD, CAHRI

Steve commenced at Coogee in June 2013 as a seasoned HR professional who has worked for over 15 years in senior management positions. Prior to Coogee, Steve was self-employed for 3 years, during which time he carried out HR consulting and contracting assignments in a variety of industry sectors.

With a strong HR background in manufacturing and construction, including national roles, Steve brings a wealth of experience to Coogee across the broad range of HR disciplines.

Steve is responsible for leading, developing and managing the human resources function throughout the Coogee group.

Dr Peter Duxson Dr Peter Duxson - Technology Director

  • B.Eng (Chem) (Hons) BA PhD

Prior to joining Coogee in 2012, Peter managed a building materials CleanTech start-up company.

Peter is experienced in manufacturing, technology and process commercialisation. He is responsible for the TiRO Technology Centre in Melbourne as well IP management and reviewing new technologies and opportunities. Peter is tasked to accelerate bringing new Coogee products and projects into the market.

Glenn Byrne Glenn Byrne - Executive Manager Sales and Market Development

Prior to joining Coogee in 2017, Glenn had 23 years in a range of key roles in downstream petroleum including business development, retail sales management, national fuel pricing, and innovation & growth.  

Glenn is responsible for commercial relationships with both customers and business partners. In his Sales and Market Development role Glenn is focussed on expanding Coogee’s footprint within Australia and internationally. Glenn and his team apply Coogee’s capability and commitment to meet the needs of their customers.    

Michelle Chatfield Michelle Chatfield - Group Manager - HSEQ

  • B.Sc(OT), Grad Cert Strat Risk Mgt, M.Occ HS, ChOHSP

Michelle joined Coogee Chemicals in November 2015 as Group Manager - HSEQ.  Michelle has worked in executive safety, health, risk and quality management roles since 2005 and has 20 years of experience as a safety and health manager in manufacturing and processing environments.  She is a Certified Chartered Generalist OHS Professional, a member of the Safety Institute of Australia and is a registered Occupational Therapist.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science, Post Graduate Certificate in Risk Management and Master of Occupational, Safety and Health.

Brad Gee Brad Gee - Information Technology Manager

Brad Gee joined the Coogee Chemicals IT Department in 1999 and was appointed to the role of Information Technology Manager in 2007. Brad is responsible for key corporate IT systems and infrastructure for Coogee Chemicals and affiliated sites. Previous to working within the Coogee Group, Brad was employed by Alpha West and supported the Government Department of Training and Employment. Brad has completed tertiary Diploma qualifications in the IT Sector and has over 15 years' experience in the IT industry.

Marion Hutch Marion Hutch - WA & SA Terminals Manager

Marion joined Coogee Chemicals in 2013. She joined with 15 years’ experience in the Petrochemical Industry, with a heavy focus on Road Transport HSEQ and Terminal Management.

Marion previously worked for Shell Company Australia, with roles over the years including: Depot Management including Marine Logistics; Area Operations Manager including Road Transport operations; Regional HSEQ Advisor; Road Transport HSEQ Advisor for Oceania; Terminal Management; and Behavioural Safety Specialist.

This experience has provided a solid foundation for the role of WA and SA Terminals Manager.

Liane Liedcordruwisch Liane Liedcordruwisch - Commercial Manager – Sales & Marketing

Liane commenced with Coogee in 1993. She has experienced the many different facets of the chemical manufacturing and terminalling business. Liane worked in R&D and process development of natural Beta-Carotene and Xanthates before moving to management systems, HS and environmental management. She has also been involved in training and mentoring.

Liane is now positioned with the Sales and Marketing team sourcing new business, maintaining client relation liaison and managing commercial contracts for fuel terminalling as well as chemical supply and procurement contracts.

Mathew Duggan Mathew Duggan - Group Manager - Finance

  • B. Comm CA

Matt has over 11 years’ experience in various accounting roles. This includes a combined 6 years in professional practice at a leading mid-tier and a Big 4 firm prior to joining Coogee in 2010.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.

As the Group Manager – Finance, Matt leads the accounting and treasury activities across the Coogee group.

Shane Pugh Shane Pugh - Maintenance & Integrity Manager

With over 24 years’ experience in maintenance and procurement roles, spanning petrochemical, engineering and telecommunications industries, Shane joined Coogee in 2008. As Maintenance and Integrity Manager, Shane has responsibility for the day to day mechanical maintenance and asset integrity management team supporting the manufacturing operation, transport fleet and the terminals businesses located at Kwinana.

Graeme Warden Graeme Warden - Manufacturing & Engineering Manager

Prior to joining Coogee Chemicals in 2006, Graeme gained 19 years of experience in engineering and operations, primarily in the chemical and oil & gas sectors.

His expertise in engineering management, operations, maintenance, business development, plant optimisation and general management have provided a solid foundation for his current role, where he is responsible for Kwinana operations, maintenance, reliability and engineering.

In addition to his engineering qualifications, Graeme holds a Master of Business Leadership.

Rob Hennessey Rob Hennessey - Business Development Manager - Transport and Logistics

  • GradDipBus(Mgt) GAICD

Rob has been involved in the transport industry for nearly thirty five years - the past twenty five years involving bulk chemical transport operations. He is responsible for the road transport and logistics for Coogee Chemicals with his main role focussing on the core function of dangerous goods, including the Kwinana Dangerous Goods Storage facility.

Rob is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTA), a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Curtin) and works closely with the Business Managers in terms of customer sales, relations and contracts.
