Hydrochloric Acid
What is it?
Hydrochloric Acid is the aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas. It is commonly referred to as Muriatic Acid or Spirits of Salts, and is a pungent colourless to pale yellow liquid, free from undissolved particles. Hydrochloric Acid is a strong acid and is highly corrosive.
Where Is It Applied?
It is commonly applied in: gold mining for the regeneration of activated carbon; pickling and metal cleaning; development of wells in petroleum exploration; pH control and neutralisation; production of inorganic and organic compounds; leather processing; household cleaning; and building construction.
