Sustainability
"Sustainable development is development that meets the
needs of the present without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs." (Brundtland Commission of the
United Nations, 1987).
As corporate citizen we acknowledge our responsibility to meet the environmental, social and economic needs of our community.
We are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace, where everyone returns home from work healthy and safe every single work day. By working together we can achieve this goal.
We are promoting healthy lifestyles and the wellbeing of our employees by offering a range of services including complementary health and fitness assessments, QUIT programs, influenza vaccinations and a range of employee assistance programs.
Coogee designs and operates its facilities to have minimal impact on the environment. Whenever possible materials are recycled and reused to minimise waste. Over the years we have built a beautiful garden landscape of which we are very proud. This beautiful space has been recognised by winning the Gardens Competition in the "Commercial and Industrial" division, and by being named the leading best practice example of industrial landscaping by the Department of State Development. It is great to see that the gardens we enjoy have been recognised by others too!
Good relations with the community are important to us. We
understand our responsibility as a corporate citizen and we are
actively contributing to the prosperity and progress of the local
communities. Our involvement includes the support of sponsorships
programs, donations to important NGOs such as the Royal Flying
Doctors, and providing employment and training opportunities. We
are supporting the LyriK youth incentive program, which aims to
recognise and reward young people for their positive acts and
provide development opportunities and skills to assist them in the
next phase of their lives. And we are working closely with
community groups to understand the social, environmental and
economic implications of our activities so that we can enhance
benefits and eliminate negative impacts. Please visit the Community &
Industries Forum.
Coogee is a signatory to the Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association (PACIA) Responsible Care Program including the PACIA Sustainability Framework.
